THE GOOD DOGS ALWAYS WEAR WHITE

Our Official Snow Dog mascot greets you at Jeep^® display at the show entrance.  This friendly and remarkable purebred White German Shepherd, named "Shasta" carries a “badge” and is looking to rescue hikers, skiers or snowboarders in distress.  This amazing animal is a K9 member of the California Rescue Dogs Association, Lake Tahoe Avalanche Rescue Association and Canadian Avalanche Rescue Dogs Association and is being trained to locate lost or missing people in and around the mountains of California.

 Shasta learned to ride the chairlifts so she can be air-lifted to remote areas by helicopter to search for lost hikers, snowboarders and skiers.  Most of the time, Shasta enjoys being a safety ambassador at California winter resorts, playing with kids and adults during Ski School breaks, and as an official member of the Ski Patrol, joyriding in helicopters & snowcats.

Rick Strasser, is Shasta’s owner and trainer, and has been a member of various emergency and rescue services for over twenty years.  Rick is currently the Commander of the Kern County Sheriff’s Department Search Canine Unit, a Canine Specialist for the State of California & The U.S National Parks Service in King’s & Kern Counties. Strasser, has been instrumental in the safe rescue of hundreds of careless or unlucky lost children… and adults.  

Shasta and Rick will personally welcome show attendees and together they will demonstrate how these canine heroes (& their trainers!) safeguard our lives and quickly capture our hearts.  Come meet our Official Snow Dog mascot during personal appearances at the Jeep^® Dealers Display at the Main Entrance of the show or at our Fireside Chat™ Seminar Stage exclusively at The Bay Area Ski Show & Snowboard Expo™.
